Neil Amato (Apex, NC): Three generations of athletes

Neil’s typical exercise schedule:

I’ve never been on a schedule. A 7 am run three weekdays, a longer run on the weekends and I feel good.  I fill in the gaps (off days) with core work and push-ups, or swimming in season.

Kevin Brewer (Clemmons, NC): Mountain biking is my purest form of movement

Mountain biking is my purest joy of movement.  I try to ride at least twice a week, in addition to trail running and lifting weights.  When I was in my twenties I knew I had to find a healthy passion, as I watched my father become obese and completely give up movement.  I decided on mountain biking, because in addition to keeping one, it was really fun and connected one to nature.  One of the best decisions of my life.  I’ll be 50 in a matter of months and I am more fit than I was when I made that decision.

Kevin’s typical exercise schedule: (4:00 am-5:00 am wake-up)
Mon: Rest
Tues: 1 hr. gym plus 1:15 hr. trail run
Wed: 1 hr. body weight
Thur: Gym in morning, run or mtb ride after work
Fri: Gym or run
Sat: 1-4 hr. trail run or mtb ride
Sun: 1-4 hr. trail run or mtb ride
